This historic Butcher’s Hill rowhome was thoughtfully renovated to better support its owner’s lifestyle while preserving the character and charm that first drew her to the neighborhood. Designed with entertaining, working from home, and modern living in mind, the project included updates throughout all four levels of the home. On the first floor, walls were removed to create a more open and welcoming layout, complemented by custom oversized bookcases, restored wood-burning fireplaces, custom tilework, and refinished checkerboard flooring. Throughout the home, original features were celebrated wherever possible, with reclaimed materials incorporated to honor the home’s historic roots.
The upper levels were reconfigured to provide the functionality often missing in older city homes, including a new primary ensuite bathroom, custom closet space, a dedicated home office, guest accommodations, and a high-end wet bar adjacent to the rooftop entertaining area. The basement was refreshed with a gym, laundry and hobby space, wine storage, and improved access through a rebuilt staircase. Exterior improvements included cornice repairs, updated paint, new windows, and a two-level deck connected by a custom spiral staircase, creating multiple outdoor spaces with sweeping views of the Baltimore skyline. Rather than reinventing the home, the project focused on enhancing its best features while adapting it to meet the needs of modern city living. This is in collaboration with Rob from Bowtie Designs.
