This full home renovation in Butchers Hill was completed for a professional couple and their two daughters, with a focus on improving everyday function while honoring the home’s historic character. Working closely with the clients and interior designer Kelly Mathioudakis, One Source Contracting selectively updated key areas throughout the house, including opening up a once small kitchen to create a spacious kitchen and dining area with custom banquette seating, taller cabinetry, dedicated pantry wall, and an island that was custom made to look more like a piece of furniture than cabinetry.
Beyond the kitchen, the renovation included modernization of trades throughout, a fully finished basement with new flooring and an updated bathroom, reconfigured second floor spaces with new and updated bathrooms, a second laundry room, and a refreshed third floor primary suite. Original hardwood floors were refinished, interiors were repainted, and unique features like the home’s lightwell were thoughtfully incorporated into the design. Working with the client to stay within CHAP (Commission for Historical & Architectural Preservation) guidelines ensured the project maintained historic integrity while supporting modern family living.
