Built in 1796, this historic log house was carefully restored for a retired couple looking for their forever home. Working with Carballo Architecture, we removed the old addition while restoring the original cabin’s features, including the original pine floors and traditional chinking between the logs. The project blends historic charm with modern living through a new addition that includes a kitchen, dining room, home office, and guest bathroom, while the restored log house holds the primary suite, sewing room, and guest bedroom. The addition features modern touches like cable railing and large black-framed windows that showcase views of the surrounding landscape, plus a two-story deck for outdoor living. This challenging project required special skills to connect new construction to the historic structure while protecting the original building, creating a perfect mix of old and new that honors the home’s 200+ year history while meeting today’s lifestyle needs.
